Haiku
07 March 2003

Suddenly lonely,
Here against the sky I see
Only birds passing.

It may seem a cop-out, as it isn't, at least for some, as difficult to write as other poetic forms, but I've always been quite fond of the haiku, as it requires a kind of distilling of language, as well as a rigid adherence to discipline, both of which I tend to ignore elsewhere. The above came out this afternoon and is, like everything on this site, copyrighted, not that anyone would want to take credit for it in some public forum, but anyway...I hope the world is having a festive Friday night, 'cause like I once wrote in a lyric, "Everyone should have something better to do on a night like this."
