Against the Dying of the Light I've been silent quite long enough. A lot's happened in the world since my last entry. I've done a lot of writing, as usual, that I haven't posted. Here's where I am, right now...Here's where WE ARE, right now, as Americans, as citizens of the United States of America, as citizens of The World. If the outrageously catastrophic mis-management of the disastrous events which have unfolded in the Gulf Coast over the last week does not bring the current government of this nation down in flames, there is NO HOPE for America. Your leaders -- our leaders, though there are precious few currently running things for whom I voted -- are Nero, and YOUR CITY IS ON FIRE!!!!! Former President Clinton was impeached for a lying to Congress about a sexual indiscretion, an issue which was nobody's business but his and his wife's (and of course, that of the woman in question), and which caused NO ONE harm, to say nothing of death. The current administrations LIES have led to the deaths of THOUSANDS of our civilians, not only those who have pledged their allegiance to protect and serve and to carry out the will of this government throughout the world SUPPOSEDLY in the interest of the greater good of humankind and my beloved Justice, but also of innocents bereft of a government concerned with their welfare and equipped to provide them with the basic needs of any living human creature: food, shelter, clothing. There is no time to allow the authorities to avert blame to each other, pointing fingers every which way and thereby diffusing the blame for what has happened. They must all be held accountable. It is the power of We the People to do so. Impeach. Now. It took nearly a week for the government of this country, whose SOLE PURPOSE IS TO PROTECT AND SERVE ITS CONSTITUENTS, to mount anything vaguely resembling a response to the horrific destruction along the south coast of this land, destruction whose scope was well predicted in advance. Clearly, those whom we have elected to serve our common good have quite forgotten their purpose, their Sacred Duty. Self-proclaimed Christians who dare to use this tragedy to advance their own agendas beware: You may rot, for He would shudder to see your claims to bear His name. He said, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." How dare you, who know not the meaning of the word "love", presume to know the Father of Love's mind! My dear Little Owl, you may have your rhapsodic reveries about New York; I'll none of them. Fuck New York. I love New Orleans. "Bring down the government; NOW, America! Act NOW! Get off your fat happy asses! Demand that your voices be heard, not ignored! Your leaders allow you to die of starvation, dehydration whilst baking in the putrid, humid heat of a toxic sauna, rendered moist only by evaporating sewage! Will you do NOTHING?! Will you die and rot, impotent, poor and alone, your lives remembered for nothing but a briefly-noted tragedy?! Already, more have died in New Orleans alone, you may be sure, slowly, painfully, PREVENTABLY! than died in the sudden and unexpected (by most of us) horror of the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks on New York. There will be no memorials. Let there be no glorious words for the reign of those who allowed this to happen! "Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by?" r
